Tear Fund New Zealand is urging the Tongan government to formally ask for international help following Tropical Cyclone Ian before it is too late to get assistance.

It is not unknown that Tonga
It is not unknown that Tonga does indeed need assistance in any case. What is even more obvious is that the delay or the failure to formally ask for the required assistance up to this point in time is that the leadership is lacking. Tonga does not have the capacity to do even the assessment. So instead of struggling to do the assessment ourselves Tonga should have already requested formally for help even to undertake the assessment of the situation.
Tonga Leadership, whatever you do, take your time but Hurry Up and Ask!
