A new commercial bank, the Pacific International Commercial Bank, was awarded a license to operate by the National Reserve Bank of Tonga on July 2, and is expected to open in about six months time as the fifth bank in Tonga.

I wonder what is the benefit from this new bank when there is no economic activity and a stagnant economy seems to be here to stay?

As the latest practices go, some Govt funding to prop it up. After a while they will price fix like the other banks do.
