Serious inconvenience, loss
Serious inconvenience, loss of income and reputation to our business and to most other Tourism operators at Hihifo is still being caused by the Western District road closure!
The Ministry of Works advised Matangi Tonga Online that on Monday 28 May 2012 there would be no road closure and that the final stretch of road would be done sometime this week (but not on Monday)! This is incorrect as the only access road has again been blocked today, Monday 28 May 2012.
The Government might find it quite humorous to go back on its word, but for some of us operators at Hihifo it is impossible to operate in conditions where there is a clear lack of communication and coordination by the responsible Government Ministry.
We are looking forward to the project finally being completed and sincerely hope that by the time that happens, the reputations of the Tourism operators at Hihifo have not been too severely tarnished. - Manager.
