Tonga’s King Tupou VI held a two-day meeting with 21 nobles at the Royal Palace, Nuku’alofa from October 23-24, to discuss the Nobles’ leadership roles, and their guardianship of Tongan traditions, culture, and the land.
During Tonga’s coronation celebrations 270 people were named to receive honours, with many attending the investiture ceremony at the Royal Palace on July 31. Topping the medal list was HM King George Tupou V, himself, and his mother HM Queen Halaevalu Mata’aho.
Tonga’s royal princesses and their relatives had their hair cut at the Royal Palace today in a ceremony that marks the end of the first 10 nights of mourning for the late King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV.
Preparations are well underway for the return to Tonga of King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV on Saturday July 1 to celebrate his 88th birthday on July 4.
