The funeral cortege for Tonga's Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata'aho (90) will arrive in Tonga on Tuesday 28 February before the Queen Mother is laid to rest at the Royal Tombs, Mala’ekula on Wednesday, March 1.

Tonga’s Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata’aho will be sorely missed by two organisations whose cause was close to her heart. Leaders of the Tonga Red Cross Society Inc. and the Alonga Centre expressed their sorrow at her passing but remembered the Queen Mother's legacy of love, to help and support the elderly and people living with disabilities throughout Tonga.

HM King Tupou VI was expected to return from Niuatoputapu in the far north of Tonga this afternoon Monday, February 20 following the death of the Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata'aho (90) in Auckland.

Tonga's Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata'aho, has passed away in an Auckland Hospital, at the age of 90 years. In Tonga's parliament this morning, Monday February 20, the Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Siaosi Sovaleni is leading a prayer in respect of her passing.

HM King Tupou VI in Privy Council has upheld a Land Court’s judgment made last year declaring Tupou Tongaliuaki Filo’aulo Aleamotu’a (25) as the lawful successor of the hereditary title Fielakepa, after dismissing an appeal made by his uncle Rt Hon Lord Fielakepa to the Privy Council of Tonga on January 15 this year.
