Kigali, Rwanda : An important agreement to an amendment in the Montreal Protocol was signed by almost 200 countries last week in Kigali, Rwanda, to phase down hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) usage and production, which could stop a 0.5 °C rise in temperature by the end of the century.

Auckland, New Zealand : Former Mate Ma’a Tonga centre Solomone Kata will debut for New Zealand this Saturday October 15 against Australia in Perth. The Vava’u born 23-year-old was the top try scorer for his NRL team the New Zealand Warriors this year, scoring 15 tries in 21 games in the 2016 NRL season. Meanwhile, the Department for Local Government was transferred from the Prime Minister’s Office to the Ministry of Training, Employment, Youth, and Sports, and then to the Ministry of Internal Affairs - who say it will move again. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Superintendent Tevita Vailea (44) was awarded the 2016 Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Chair’s Award for outstanding servicing to policing in the region.
