Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The bodies of two newborns found dumped in two separate locations in Tongatapu only one day after the other were identified as a four month foetus and a near-full term baby of eight months gestation at the times of their deaths, the Deputy Police Commander Taniela Faletau confirmed today.

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : "Thank God! I am so lucky," said To'imoana Taufateau (50), recovering this week from open-heart surgery performed at Tonga's Vaiola Hospital. His was one of the emotionally-charged comments made by some of the 14 Tongan heart patients who are recovering from their heart operations performed by a team of specialist surgeons and support staff from Australia, who worked day and night - and even through Sunday's 7.1 earthquake - to treat as many patients as possible during their visit. Suva, Fiji : The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), together with other members of the STI Working Group for the Pacific and the Fiji School of Medicine, are co-facilitating a training of trainers in comprehensive sexually transmitted infections (STIs) case management for 30 health professionals from 10 Pacific Island countries. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The Kalonikali reports that a 25 member medical team from Australia is working in Tonga for a fortnight under an AusAID project. Cardiologists in the team have identified 16-18 cases of children and adults for treatment. Surgeon Dr Andrew Cochrane said the team brought equipment so that the surgery could be performed at Vaiola Hospital and the patients would not have to travel overseas for treatment.
