The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) recovered today the bodies of six people who tragically died in Monday’s eruption on Whakaari/White Island. They stated NZDF will support efforts to recover the bodies of two others, in the hope there is resolution for those families

The Secondary School Entrance Exam results for class six students this year have revealed that Government Primary Schools (GPS) and church primary schools are struggling, with less than 50% of students passing key national examinations. Less than half passed English and Mathematics, while over half passed Tongan studies (Lea Faka-Tonga) and Science. Remedies suggested include investing in teachers, expanding kindergartens, encouraging families to make sure children eat breakfast to enhance concentration; and promoting reading at home.
