Tonga's National Team traveling to the Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa, left Tonga yesterday morning on a Real Tonga charter flight. The flight was the first charter by the local airline of a B737-300.

A massed military band marched through the Nuku'alofa Central Business District this morning, July 4 to mark King Tupou VI’s 60th birthday.

Twenty-seven local body builders, including students, took part in the Royal Tongan National Bodybuilding Championships 2019 at the Tanoa Hotel on 2 July, as part of celebrations for King Tupou VI’s 60th birthday. Judge Philip Hope said this was the biggest ever contingent of school boys participating in body building. “I don’t know what they eat but they are well developed.”

Wherever one looks – the media, political leaders’ rhetoric, or online discussions – one finds a bias toward bad ideals. This is not to suggest that we (or most of us) endorse, say, racism, misogyny, or homophobia, but rather that we grant them efficacy. We believe that extremist ideals must be combated, because we implicitly consider them potent enough to attract new adherents, and contagious enough to spread.
