Results for water supply

The Government of Japan has committed three grant aid projects aimed to improve the waste management and water supply system, while extending the nationwide early warning system in Tonga. The grant aid projects formalized today, will not only help clean up the rubble and debris after the disaster but also establish better recycling, including scrapped cars. There will also be better water supply systems in the outer islands and the nationwide early warning system project will be completed.

Tonga Red Cross this week delivered bottled water supplies to 256 households, affected by the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcanic eruption and tsunamis.

An upgraded water supply system for people in the western Hihifo District was handed over to Prince Ata on February 23. The project was financed by the Government of Japan.

Grant Aid of around USD$304,000 was committed by the Government of Japan on March 15 to upgrade schools and water supply in Tongatapu.

More than half a million pa’anga was committed by the Government of Japan to fund the upgrade of school classrooms at Vaololoa and Veitonga, as well as a water supply system for Navutoka, in Tongatapu on Thursday, 3 March.

The people of Houma were overjoyed today, as a new Water Supply System funded by the Government of Japan was turned on and handed over for their daily use.
