Our current diets are bad for our health and are harming the planet. Two billion people are now overweight or obese. Tongatapu’s two-day Royal Agricultural, Fisheries and Industrial Show 2015 was opened today by King Tupou VI on a bright sunny day with a large variety of stalls showcasing plentiful supply of local food crops, vegetables, fruits and seafood along with traditional weaving, handicrafts and manufactured goods at the Funga-Mana-Mo’ui Grounds in ‘Atele.

Australian researchers from Queensland University’s “Pacific Agricultural Research for Development Initiative (PARDI)” are leading a vegetable research project know as PGS (Participatory Guarantee Systems) in Fiji and the Solomon Islands to help identify ways to strengthen food production and manufacture in the region.
