Naturally gifted runner, Siueni Filimone (21), loved music growing up but when his teachers saw his talent on the track, he was chosen year after year to represent his primary and secondary schools at interschool sporting competitions eventually winning his way to representing Tonga at international events and now at Rio Olympics.

Fifty nine Tongan athletes who were left behind at the airport on Tuesday, will depart Tonga tomorrow morning on a charter flight to Nadi, hoping to get connecting flights for Papua New Guinea in time to participate in the Pacific Games 2015. Only 19 have seats on connecting flights.

Tongan athletes are competing in six sports at the 2013 Pacific Mini Games from September 2-12 in the French Territory of Wallis and Futuna.

The Tongan National Olympic Committee has announced that a 10-member contingent for the Beijing Olympic will include three competitors.

Tonga's Chef de Mission for Tonga National Olympic Team, Takitoa Taumoepeau, reports that two results are in with three more to come. All the team are well and fine.
