A 39-year-old male driver from Havelu, whose vehicle crashed on Taufa'ahau Road in the Nuku'alofa CBD on Monday, 19 June, died in hospital the same morning, Tonga Police reported.

Five people including a 30-year-old male driver were injured in a road crash at Pea on Sunday, 14 May. While a 22-year-old woman was injured at Ma’ufanga, when she crashed her vehicle the following day.

A 51-year-old woman, who was a front passenger in a car that crashed into an electric pole at Kolonga on eastern Tongatapu, died at Vaiola Hospital on Sunday, 18 December. The driver remains in a critical condition.

Tonga Police allege that alcohol was involved in the road accident where two people died in the early morning of 21 September on Taufa’ahau Road at Nualei. The deceased were the driver, a 28-year-old man from Veitongo, and a passenger a 19-year-old woman from Pātangata. Three people remain in hospital with serious injuries.

A 62-year-old male driver whose van collided and seriously injured a motorcyclist on December 2 has been released on bail. His case was adjourned to January, 2020.
