Fourteen-year-old Noelani Day has made history becoming the youngest person to complete the 22.3km Apolima Strait Solo Swim, placing third overall in Samoa, on Friday 6 April. She completed the swim in 8 hours, 11 minutes, and 12 seconds. Battling severe conditions, Noelani dedicated her swim to Tongan girls and youth in sports - to encourage them to always pursue their dreams no matter what obstacles are before them.

Six swimmers stepped up to taking part in the inaugural 6km open water swim to Fafa Island on Saturday 17 September, initiated by the Malolo Swim Club. Supporters including Tonga’s famous Olympic flag bearer, Pita Taufatofua, wished them well at Faua Wharf as they prepared for the challenge.
