Laulea Beach in Fatumu, an area known for its strong currents, has been “strictly closed” to the public by the Tonga Police, effective today, 17 December 2025, until after the New Year's holiday. Police Deputy Commissioner, Halatoa Taufa, told Matangi Tonga today, this measure aims to prevent drownings during the holiday season, following the death of a 40-year-old male last month.
