While Tonga’s Civil Aviation Division (CAD) and investigators from Australia are still investigating the cause of the A3PUA aircraft accident, at Fua’amotu Domestic Airport a month ago, Lulutai Airlines, so far, has been unable to find a replacement aircraft to service high demand on the domestic inter-island routes during the holiday season.

Digital specialists

Nuku'alofa, Tonga
A project to modernise six Acts to include digital government and to strengthen digital legal requirements and protections in Tonga, is being planned. A team of Digital Specialists met with the Prime Minister, Hon Hu’akavameiliku on 26 May to discuss the World Bank Tonga Digital Government Support Project (TDGSP) Mid Term Review Mission.

Tonga's Prime Minister acknowledged the strong commitment of Tonga's development partners and donors and said financial assistance is still needed to ensure a prosperous Tonga, on opening the Development Partners Forum 2023, on 28 February. He said Government’s additional financing needs in the medium term are estimated at $84.5 million pa'anga in 2023-24, $88.3m in 2024-25, and $79.5m in 2025-26.
