The polls have closed at 4:00pm in today's By-election for the Vava'u Constituency no. 14 held in Tongatapu and Vava'u, to fill the seat vacated by Dr. Saia Piukala. There are four candidates. The Electoral Commissioner and Supervisor of Elections, Pita Vuki said the results will be released at the end of the counting, whenever that might be.

Measles is one of the most infectious diseases on earth, spreading easily when an infected person breathes, coughs or sneezes.

A group of Vaiola nurses led by Matron Akesa Halatanu, protested at the Royal Palace Office this morning where they presented a petition to increase their salary. This afternoon, the Minister of Health Hon. Dr Saia Piukala, told a media briefing that he was not aware of they had gone to the Palace, and that it took him by a surprise, after he and the CEO had met with the nurses yesterday about their concerns.

Three cabinet ministers have tested positive for COVID-19, in addition to the Prime Minister who tested positive on Saturday. The Minister for Health, Hon Dr Saia Piukala confirmed today he is also in self-isolation for 10 days but has tested negative so far for COVID-19.
