Tonga’s recently passed Family Protection Bill 2013 is at the forefront of a 'Family Violence and Youth Justice Workshop' being held in Nuku'alofa this week to provide the judiciary and stakeholders with a better understanding of the new bill, that will help tackle the increasing problem of family violence.

Tonga’s landmark Family Protection Bill 2013 passed by the Legislative Assembly of Tonga on September 4, after three weeks of heavy debate, will help the police to deal with family violence that is increasing in Tonga. It now awaits the assent of the King and is expected to be enacted next year.
