The United States and some of its allies have acted decisively to exclude the Chinese technology company Huawei from their national markets, yet they continue to ignore the similar threat posed by Facebook and other US digital giants. Democratic governments must now be equally decisive in dealing with this home-grown danger. By Ngaire Woods.

Sacramento county resident Kali Kanongata’a (36) has captured international media attention after he video-recorded his partner giving birth to their son and live streamed it on Facebook. The video has since gone viral and has attracted over 273,000 views on Facebook. The video is not graphic as Kali films the upper body of his wife throughout the delivery.
