The Tonga Police Drugs Enforcement Taskforce made 32 arrests over the Christmas holiday period between 20-29 December, where a total of 30.48 grams of methamphetamine, 72.74 grams of cannabis, 3.11 grams of cocaine, and drug utensils were seized at various locations on Tongatapu. Most of those arrested are being held in Police custody.

Police arrested 230 people during ‘Operation Finau’ over the Christmas and New Year holidays from 21 December 2020 to 4 January 2021. The Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce also arrested 18 people and seized cannabis and methamphetamine from 16-30 December 2020.

Three men and one woman were arrested last week, after Tonga Police discovered alleged drugs and cannabis on a property in ‘Umusi, Nuku’alofa. The four suspects were a 48-year-old man from ‘Umusi, a 49-year-old man from Houmakelikao, and a 31-year-old woman from Pahu. Another male from Houmakelikao was also arrested but his age was not released.
