Continuing its vision to support sick children at the Children’s Ward at Vaiola Hospital, the Tae Kami Foundation (Walk on Walk Strong -WOWS) handed over new furniture, curtains and presents today, to mark its 10th Anniversary in Tonga.

Three new buses were donated by the Government of Japan to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to promote sports and transport athletes to sports competitions and events. Present at the handover today was the Prime Minister Hon. ‘Akilisi Pohiva, sporting a big lump on his forehead, after he was injured in a fall at the weekend.

Fifteen computers, worth around $12,000 pa'anga, were donated to Tonga High School from Bank South Pacific on June 15. The school has been teaching computer studies to 527 students with only 27 computers.

Office furniture worth $110,000 pa’anga for Tonga's Legislative Assembly was donated by the New Zealand Government on June 6, as part of the Cyclone Gita recovery efforts.

The 143 government primary school students at Kolonga on Tongatapu were happy to receive school materials, reading books, sports gear donated by visiting students from Kohia Terrace School in Auckland. The visiting New Zealand students included Talia Vea and Lipoi Tupou.

A private gift of around 5000 pairs of shoes from Japan are being distributed by the Tonga Red Cross this week to young students at various schools in Tongatapu.

An ambulance and biomedical equipment with training valued at AUD$70,000 was handed over to the Ministry of Health by the Rotary Club recently.
