The skipper of a whale watching boat, the 'Ha’apai Explorer" was injured when its engine exploded at sea on Saturday, November 26. The boat with two foreign passengers on board, was on its way back to Pangai from Limu Island in the Ha’apai Group when the accident happened.

A third diver has died after using a dangerous method known as 'hookah diving' while diving for sea cucumbers this week in Ha'afeva, Ha'apai. Tonga's Police Commissioner is appealing to divers never to use the illegal method.

Two Ha'apai divers who have sighted the remains of an old ship wreck in Tonga's Ha'apai islands could not confirm yesterday whether or not the age of the wreck had been identified by experts in Britain, but they believe that it might be the Port au Prince.
