The repatriation flights that were scheduled to arrive in Tonga at the end of this year have been "all deferred to next year", MEIDECC confirmed today. Meanwhile, all of the 215 repatriates from Christchurch, including the COVID-19 case who was later confirmed as a historical case, were released from quarantine yesterday, after testing negative to COVID-19 in their last round of tests.

Australian citizens and permanent residents in Tonga who wish to return to Australia via Auckland can now get a connecting flight to Sydney within 24 hours. No COVID-19 test is required prior to departure, however, passengers must cover the costs of the mandatory 14-days quarantine on arrival in Australia.

All 45 passengers repatriated from Fiji and Kiribati on Wednesday have tested negative for CoViD-19 confirmed MEIDECC CEO Paula Ma'u this afternoon. Only 38 passengers were repatriated from Fiji out of the 56 that had registered to return to Tonga because of issues with obtaining tests and the cost of the tickets.
