Hu’akavameiliku and members of the Cabinet sought an audience with King Tupou VI at the remote island of Niuafo'ou, yesterday, 7 March, following weeks of uncertainty after the King withdrew his confidence and consent to the appointment of two cabinet ministers, Minister of His Majesty's Armed Forces Hon, Hu'akavameiliku, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Hon. Fekitamoeloa 'Utoikamanu.

Tonga ranked number one worldwide as the country with the most women with obesity, according to a study released by the well-known medical journal, the Lancet. Nine out of the top ten countries with the most women with obesity in the world, are Pacific island countries. Some 81.5% of Tongan women over the age of 20 are living with obesity, an increase of 23.3% from 1990.

A senior reserve bank official, Tēvita Nonu Kolokihakaufisi (39), appeared together with his sister, ‘Ana Longolongo Kolokihakaufisi (37) at the Magistrate’s Court in Nuku'alofa, yesterday afternoon, Monday 12 February, on charges related to a haul of 15.657kg of methamphetamine seized by Police on the weekend. Tonga Police estimated the street value of the seized illicit drugs at TOP$15 million.
