There are three (3) fantastic opportunities for career advancement now available for the following position at the National Reserve Bank of Tonga:

BANKING SUPERVISION EXAMINERS

The positions support the Head of Department in carrying out the functions of the Financial Systems Department as stipulated under the NRBT Act, Banking Act and Regulations, and Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act and Regulations. The position serves to promote financial stability and a sound and efficient financial system by licensing and undertaking prudential supervision of banks as well as combat money laundering and terrorist financial risks. Key responsibilities include implementing and reviewing of relevant policies, evaluate applications for banking licenses, revocation of Bank’s licenses, and applications for unclaimed monies and reconciliation. The role will also be primary responsible for the publication of unclaimed monies annually, process complaints on banking services and provide the required reports. This position also contributes to the implementation and review of policies, guidelines and laws for anti-money laundering and countering of terrorist financing (AML/CFT) supervision of banks, prepare and conduct AML/CFT risk management systems, to ensure compliance with AML/CFT and legal requirements, and providing reports as and when required. This position will also provide general administrative duties to support the Department.

To qualify for this position, the candidate must obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Economics or related field from a recognized institution. To succeed in the role, you must have a good understanding of financial institutions and markets; risk management systems; and anti-money laundering requirements. You must have strong English and Tongan communication skills in both written and oral communication, including report writing, intermediate accounting skills, good numeracy, analytical skills, planning and multitasking skills, intermediate computer literacy (Ms Excel, Ms Word, Ms Access, Ms Power Point), proactive and tenacity, initiative and innovative planning, organizing, and prioritizing, result oriented, judgment and working collaboratively. A working experience in Central Banking or Banking or other financial services related roles is desirable.
