There are eleven public holidays set for 2026 in Tonga, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has confirmed today.
Most of the public holidays will be observed on the date of occurance.
However, the Emancipation Day (June 4), and Anniversary of the Coronation of HM King George Tupou I (December 4), are observed on different dates, since they fall upon a Thursday and Friday. In accordance with section 2 of the Public Holidays Act, they will be celebrated on the following Mondays.
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Day (November 4) that falls on a Wednesday, will be celebrated on the Monday before the actual date of occurance.
