Moana Pasifika players excited to play NZ Highlanders in Tonga

Arriving in Tonga today, Moana Pasifika players are on a promotion tour ahead of their Super Rugby Pacific match against the New Zealand Highlanders at Teufaiva next month.

Four players Solomone Funaki, Anizelo Tu’itavuki, Semisi Paea and Viliami Napa’a expressed their growing excitement to play with a home advantage against the Highlanders in Nuku'alofa on Saturday May 4.

At a media briefing today, 15 April, Solomone Funaki said that they look forward to having the support from the Tongan fans.

Semisi Paea  said “All the boys and not just the Tongan boys –are really looking forward to coming over here to the Kingdom.”

The players encouraged fans to show their support by bringing their families and friends down to Teufaiva Stadium on 4 May, for the big international match.

The players will be in the Kingdom for the next five days, doing school tours and attending events

Moana Pasifika is a rugby union team made up of players from various Pacific Island nations as well as New Zealand or Australian-born players of Pasifika heritage, including Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Islands.

Tickets for the match go on sale tomorrow 16 April at Bank South Pacific in Nuku'alofa.

However, children aged 12 years and under will be permitted free entrance.
