Right to collective
Right to collective bargaining - John Cunningham:
As a public servant and union member in California, the militancy and determination of Friday’s action was evident to me. I wish the PSA brothers and sisters the greatest success, and would urge the government to deal directly with the leaders rather than hide behind top-down rules requiring going back to negotiations with department heads. The right to collective bargaining seems to me to be one of the issues here, and the old rules appear to undercut that right.
My union, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 715, and other unions in the San Jose area will hear about this struggle, and will, I think, also immediately recognize their commonality of interests with the bold Tongan PSA and teachers. - John Cunningham
