Tonga’s former Speaker of Parliament Lord Lasike, who was removed from parliament in 2012 is to be paid $223,385 pa’anga in remuneration by the Kingdom of Tonga, in lieu of a salary that he would have earned as a member of the Legislative Assembly and as Speaker from July 9, 2012 to November 24, 2014, ruled the Lord Chief Justice on February 2.

So, in layman's terms, he broke the laws, but just got a slap on the wrists and got awarded for work he didn't perform. Oh how justice shines! Does this mean Mr. Lavulavu can have a case too as in reference to the Lasike vs Gov't? He too broke the laws, ousted, ....and who knows? - Kafo'atu Ma'asi

Lasike was acquitted by a competent court where as Lavulavu was found Guilty. in "layingman's term" Lasike never broke the law, Lavulavu did and thus no case for compensation. Malo, Ofa.
