Deputy Chief Executive Officer

The Retirement Fund Board is seeking to engage suitably qualified, experienced, professional and highly competent Employee for the vacant position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

Primary Role

The Deputy CEO is responsible for assisting the Fund’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the formulation, execution of strategic directions of the Fund and also assumes the leadership role during absence of the CEO. Additionally, the Deputy CEO takes the lead in planning, organizing and controlling major functions relating to the operations and administration of the Fund through senior management.

This role is to support the Fund's objectives by:

  • Researching and developing Governance, Compliance & Corporate Services ideas, d proposals, policy guidelines, procedures and resources for to safeguard the reputation of the Fund and to further the Fund’s objectives;
  • Ensuring all Fund activities and related risks are managed within official and agreed policy boundaries of the Fund; and
  • Acting as a conduit for all Governance, Compliance & Corporate Services information to Management, GCAR Committee and the Fund Board.

Nature and Scope:

The Deputy CEO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer to whom it provides reporting, advice and transactional executions:

  • Executes the specific instructions of the CEO and implements the Governance, Compliance & Corporate Services policies set by the Fund Board;
  • Monitors and reports on all Governance, Compliance & Corporate Services issues and advises the CEO on both policy and execution in this regard;
  • Carries executive and team leader responsibilities and supports fellow executives and team members as required;
  • Is aware of risk and compliance issues both as they affect this role and the Fund more generally;
  • Acts within the Fund’s general policies and guidelines;
  • Ensures the position holder stays up-to-date with Governance, Compliance, Corporate Services and other relevant developments in Governance, Compliance & Corporate Services theory and practice; and
  • Ensures the Fund’s operations and administration are carried out to best practice standards, are timely and cost-effective and meet the needs of the Fund and its Members.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in relevant field and 10 years of relevant working experience.
  • Must have completed study programme and obtained Advanced Diploma qualification in Superannuation, from a recognized Institution.
  • Must be a Fellow of the Association Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) or similar Institution.
  • Remuneration: Based on Retirement Fund Board Deputy CEO, Remuneration package.
