The ‘Ikale Tahi and Queensland Reds from Australia are set to face off at Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku’alofa on 15 August.

The match between the two teams is supported by the Australian Government, Rugby Australia, and the Queensland Reds through PacificAus Sports.

The teams first match was 30 years ago and for ‘Ikale Tahi, this year’s match is an opportunity for redemption, after their 14-41 loss to the QLD Reds last year.

CEO of Tonga Rugby Union, Aisea Aholelei said, "This game against the Reds will help us prepare for the upcoming Pacific Nations Cup, which we need to do well in to qualify for Rugby World Cup in 2027."

QLD Reds Head Coach, Les Kiss looks forward to what the Reds can learn from taking on the Ikale Tahi this time around.

“We know the size and explosiveness of the Tongan side and the importance of the game as their final hit-out before Rugby World Cup qualifiers in the Pacific Nations Cup" he said.

"That offers a great challenge for the Reds to test ourselves against a different game style and develop our squad."

QLD Reds will conduct community activities in Tonga prior to game day.
