Tropical Disturbance "TDO8F", located east of Vava'u last night does not pose any threat to Tonga, and will continue to track south southeast and away from the groups by weekend.
Tonga Meteorological Services advised that "TDO8F" was located near latitude 18.3 south and longitude 170.3 west or about 380km east of Neiafu, Vava'u or 585km northeast of Nuku'alofa, Tongatapu at 7pm Thursday , 20 February 2025.
“The potential for the system to develop into a Tropical Cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours is LOW. This system does not pose any threats to Tonga, and it will continue to track south southeast and away from the groups by weekend.’
Tonga Met issued strong wilnd warnings for most of Tonga, with Gales wanring for the Niuas.
