Veitongo FC to compete in OFC Men's Championship League

Twenty-eight players have been named by Tonga Football in a ‘provisional list’, 18 of which will be chosen to represent the Kingdom in the upcoming Oceania Men's Football Confederation (OFC) Championship League.

The championship will be hosted in Tongatapu at Teufaiva Stadium, set to begin on 17-24 February. Tonga Football said that the final team list will be released by Friday 9 February.

The head coach, Mark ‘Uhatahi, told Matangi Tonga they are looking forward to playing against teams of ‘Apia, Samoa and the Cook Islands.

He said that that these two teams will be a challenge because “most of their players are not locals, they’re overseas players,” he said.

The three teams will also compete in the OFC championship includes American Samoa, Cook Islands and Samoa.
