MMT top Pool D, to face Toa Samoa in Quarterfinals

Mate Ma'a Tonga have won all their pool games, defeating the Cook Islands 92 - 10, at Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough.

Jason Taumalolo showed no rust from his three game suspension, scoring two tries of MMT's sixteen tries.

Will Penisini scored four, while Tesi Niue grabbed a hattrick.

The impressive performance is a boost for fans, re-instilling faith in MMT world cup final ambitions after average performances against Papua New Guinea and Wales.

Toa Samoa have redeemed their 60 - 6 loss to England in their pool opener, defeating France 62 - 4 to qualify for the quarter-final against MMT.

The quarter-final will take place at Warrington on November 6.
