Tropical Cyclone Ella (Category 2) was located 247km northwest of Niuafo'ou in northern Tonga at 3:00am this morning 12 May 2017.
The Fua'amotu Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre said the system is moving west at about 3 knots (5km/hr) and on its current track is expected to lie about 284km west-northwest of Niuafo'ou at 7:00am this morning.
A strong wind warning, with heavy rain and flash flood warning, remains in force for Niuafo'ou land area.
A Tropical Cyclone Warning previously in force for Niuafo'ou land area was cancelled yesterday evening, May 11.
Tropical Cyclone Ella (Cat. 2) is still moving through northern Tongan waters and on its current track is moving north of of Cikobia, Labasa, and Taveuni in Fiji over the weekend.
