Tonga has closed the fishing of sea cucumbers for three years, starting this year to allow the stock to recover from overfishing and illegal fishing.

I think it is good to see
I think it is good to see action is done to protect the sea cucumbers, though unfortunate to the loss of employment opportunities and and the economic benefits received.
Being a business that operates within a certain period in the year, not without added compensation to attract investment, it's basically put out of business for a few years.
We can't be frustrated too much about the past so let's hope we have stricter and increased enforcement to crack down on illegal fishing next time. Where in the long run we can sustain the bounty of the seas and provide long-term opportunities to improve the economic welfare of our islands.
