Didn't the Prime Minister, Feleti Sevele here made a fundamental procedural error and political mistake that steered the country into the chaotic situation that ended up with the so called Black Thursday?
The fact that the Prime Minister announced his model that he referred to as the government model outside the parliament while the NCPR report is presented in the Parliament, undermined the parliamentary process within which the NCPR was presented and discussed.
More importantly, and unfortunately for Tonga as a whole, the Prime Minister's alternative model and the way it was announced and introduced through the media Outside the Parliamentary Process effectively destroyed the pro-democracy leaders' faith in working together Within and Through the Parliamentary Process and thus undermined their trust in the Prime Minister and his motives.
Apparently, the Prime Minister tried to control the process of the political reform by taking it Outside the control of the parlimentary process which guarantees accountability and transparency.
The pro democracy leaders (I think) and supporters took advantage of this very wrong move, poor judgement and procedural error made by the Prime Minister to push forward with their own agenda.
Nevertheless, this is not an excuse for the heartless and stupid acts projected on Nov. 16th. The perpetrators no matter who of such acts must and should be brought to justice.
