Uilisoni Falahola was acquitted of manslaughter in the electrocution death of a man in Kolomotu'a in a verdict delivered by the Lord Chief Justice in his on June 19 at the Supreme Court in Nuku'alofa.

A 29-year-old man was sentenced last Friday 14 December to 2-years and 3-months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis at a tax allotment in Malapo last year. The repeat drug offender was also found guilty of possessing over one kilogram of cannabis.

The victim, the mother of their nine children, was put on life support with 35 to 40 percent burns of her total body surface area and suffered permanent injury from the terrifying experience.

Tonga's Court of Appeal first session this year began at the Nuku’alofa Supreme Court on Tuesday, 29 March to end with the delivery of judgments on Friday, 8 April. An appeal by Mateni Tapueluelu a former Tongatapu MP who lost his parliamentary seat last year will be heard this week.
