The Kalonikali reports that a 25 member medical team from Australia is working in Tonga for a fortnight under an AusAID project. Cardiologists in the team have identified 16-18 cases of children and adults for treatment. Surgeon Dr Andrew Cochrane said the team brought equipment so that the surgery could be performed at Vaiola Hospital and the patients would not have to travel overseas for treatment.

The one thing that the parliamentary election of 2008 will be remembered for is last week's decision by the board of the Tonga Broadcasting Commission to stop broadcasting all pre-recorded campaign speeches of candidates, and to re-record them all for free, at the tax payers expense, so that they can be edited by a newly appointed editorial committee.
