The New Zealand Defence Force will in October welcome military women’s rugby teams from the Pacific and around the world, to compete in the inaugural International Defence Rugby Competition. Tonga will be among defence teams that will represent their countries and militaries at the tournament in Auckland, to be held at the College Rifles Rugby Club, Remuera.

A member of Tonga High School’s girls tag rugby team told Matangi Tonga today that her team was pulled out of a competition last week and told to stop playing rugby because they were girls.
