• MARINE ENGINEER
We are currently looking for AB Engine holding a minimum of a Marine Engineer- Able Seaman for Engine room for the Authority’s Tugboat MV Hifofua operating on the TONGA coastal waters.
The Engineer is responsible for watchkeeping for the mechanical and electrical performance of the vessel’s propulsion, power generation and ancillary systems.
The key responsibilities and accountabilities of the position include but not limited to:
- Obtain his working schedules from 2 nd Engineer.
- Undertake tasks and working alongside the other engine crew as per instruction received from 2 nd Engineer or officer on duty.
- Conduct engine watch or assisting the engineer on duty.
- Maintaining the main engine and auxiliaries and ensure the cleanness of the engine room.
- Check the stowage and security of the engine room store.
- Ensuring the engine room waste including oil rags are correctly stored and disposed according to the waste management procedures.
Job Description will be available from Port Authority’s main office, Queen Salote Wharf.
The salary is at Band O of the Authority’s Salary Scale. Entry point will be negotiable.
Candidates must hold the following:
- TONGA AB for Engine- Marine Engineer qualification or TONGA recognized equivalent.
- Current valid STCW ancillary certificates
- Valid Medical Certificate of fitness for seafarers
