Interested in building your career in project support involving international development and natural resources management? The Kingdom of Tonga has received financing from the World Bank for an exciting new project to support the sustainable management of our fisheries. This project implementation began in mid-2019. These SMA Leads positions will be part of the Fisheries Science Division of the Ministry of Fisheries.

The project is currently implemented and the positions will be engaged under contract with similar terms and conditions to Ministry staff. Contract staff will be fully embedded within the Ministry of Fisheries (MOF) and will work as part of the Ministry’s structure.

Positions are full time for up to 2 years, with an extension based on satisfactory performance. Contract staff will be required to provide hands-on support in their area of specialty, across a range of project activities. These are not advisory posts.

The advertised positions are available now and applications are sought from suitably qualified candidates based on the selection criteria expressed in TOR for each position. Candidates from Tongatapu and the outer islands of Ha’apai are encouraged to apply to the position to be based in that particular island.  

The Ministry of Fisheries (MOF) is the implementing agency and now invites eligible individuals (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services (attach curriculum vitae (CV) with description of experience in similar assignments, similar conditions, list of 3 referees with contact details. etc.).

Remuneration:

The successful applicant will be on a 6-month probationary period. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience not exceeding a contract ceiling followed in the table below inclusive tax and retirement fund, non-negotiable.
