    : Tongan athletes may still compete in the Rio De Janeiro Olympic, even if Tonga is suspended from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Dr Robin Mitchell, President of the Oceania National Olympic Committees said yesterday, 5 February in Nuku’alofa. The Tongan athletes would, however, be parading under the IOC flag and not under the Tongan flag.

    : Tevita ‘Ahoafi was sentenced to four-years imprisonment on Friday, 5 February for the manslaughter death of his paternal grand-uncle whom he killed in 2013 when he repeatedly struck him with a metallic pipe and a piece of wood at Ha’avakatolo, Tongatapu.
