Top English rugby club Leicester Tigers, have signed Wallabies hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau on a 2½ year contract, to begin in December this year 2017. The 32-year-old Australian born Tongan last month helped the Wallabies defeat the All Blacks 23 – 18.

The ‘Ikale Tahi will face a power packed Barbarians team this weekend 10 November in Limerick, Ireland (11 November in Tonga). The Barbarians played the All Blacks last Saturday 7 November at Twickenham Stadium in England, losing 22 – 31 although the Barbarians were ahead 17 – 10 at halftime.

Australian Wallabies star fullback Israel Folau was awarded the prestigious John Eales Medal at an Australian Rugby Awards ceremony in Sydney, on Friday October 27. The annual award recognises the best Rugby Union players in Australia. The 28-year-old was the top try-scorer for this year’s 2017 Rugby Championship, scoring five tries in six games.

The Tonga A rugby team collected two wins out of three games at the World Rugby Americas Pacific Challenge 2017 held in Montevideo, Uruguay from October 7 – 15. Tonga A defeated Canada A (31 – 15) and Samoa A (31 – 28). Their only loss was to hosts Uruguay A (34 – 25).

Veteran 'Ikale Tahi Prop, Taufa'ao Filise, has been signed again by Welsh rugby club, the Cardiff Blues. Filise has played for the Cardiff Blues since 2006, and is the club’s most capped player. He has so far played 241 games for the Blues.
