Growth in cargo volumes and the number of ships calling at the Port of Nuku’alofa, as well as operating efficiencies has resulted in a record dividend of $$1,617,862 for the financial year 2015/16 for the Ports Authority of Tonga. The dividend was declared by the Board of Directors on 1 December 2016, during their Annual General Meeting in Nuku'alofa, when the Chairman Mr Stephen Edwards, presented a dividend cheque to the Minister for Public Enterprises, Poasi Mataele Tei, for the shareholder, the Government of Tonga.

Tonga Power Ltd. paid its highest dividend to the Government of Tonga, handing over a cheque for $2 million pa'anga on December 8. The 2014-15 dividend represents a 27% increase on the previous year's return to government.
