Ambassador encourages Tonga High students to learn Chinese language [1]

Six computers were donated to Tonga High School today by the Chinese Ambassador to Tonga HE Mr Wang Donghua, who encouraged students to learn the Chinese language and to know more about its culture.
The Acting Director of Education Lucy Moala Mafi received the donations which included table tennis equipment and DVDs on Chinese culture and society.
The Ambassador said he hoped the donations would help students in their education and to keep physically fit.
"Education is a key to success in everything and Tonga High School is a symbol of our fruitful cooperation to education, since the current school building was constructed with assistance from the Chinese Government eight years ago."
The Ambassador said with the Tonga-China bilateral relationship advancing, more can be done to help the school and in the pipeline is Phase II of a THS project, which he hoped would start soon.
"A Chinese teacher is now teaching the language and culture and I hope more students would take up the advantage to learn the Chinese language and better prepare themselves for the opportunities China is generating through its fast development," he said.
Anniversary
Tapu Panuve, the President of the Tonga High School Ex-Students Association, received a donation of $1,500 from Rizvi Jurangpathy, General Manager of the Tonga Communications Corporation.
Kalolaine Manu of the Ex-Students Magazine Committee said they were grateful for the donation, which will be be used for the production of a Souvenir Magazine to mark the upcoming celebration of the school's joint 65th/66th Anniversary on July 3-7 in Nuku'alofa.
Attending the event was Lady Robyn Tu'ivakano, the school's Principal 'Amelia Folaumahina and students.
