3000 relief kits distributed to affected families [1]

Tonga Red Cross members get ready to distribute family kits to people in need. 15 March 2022.
3,000 family kits donated from China's Red Cross have been distributed this week to affected families on Tongatapu, after the volcanic eruption and tsunamis on January 15.
 
The distribution was carried out by Tonga Red Cross to 75 households at Kanokupolu and 7 households at ‘Ahau on March 15.
 
More kits were given out to residents at Patangata, Siesia, Sopu, Kolomotu’a and other affected areas.

Each kit consisted of one blanket, two towels, a moisture proof pack, nail scissors, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, silicone folding blankets, folding umbrella, travel bag, slippers and eating utensils.

“We thank the People of the Republic of China in Tonga fo this donation,” said a Tonga Red Cross spokesperson today.

The Red Cross team have over the past few weeks been tirelessly distributing donations to affected families and continue to do so.
