Tongan bodybuilders win 7 medals at 25th South Pacific Champs [1]

A Tonga Body Building Federation brought home 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals from the 25th South Pacific Body Building Championships held in New Caledonia, from 23-27 October 2019.
The championship will be held in Tonga next year.
The South Pacific Body Building Federation Congress granted “TBBF” the rights to host the 26th South Pacific Body Building Championships in Tonga from 22-25 October 2020.
Tonga’s national team was made up of nine athletes participating in various bodybuilding categories and accompanied by three officials. The athletes are:
- Piokalafi Tuione Nai, gold medal Men’s over 100kg divison.
- Unaloto Tavalea, two gold medals Men’s under 100kg and the Men’s Sports Physique in height over 170cm division.
- Taiami Siliva Tu’ifua, silver medal Men’s under 90kg,
- Samuela Kata Ta’ofi, (16) of Liahona High School, two bronze medals Junior Body Building and Junior Physique divisions.
- Sione Manu, bronze medal Men’s Body Building under 100kg division.

President of the Tonga Body Building Federation (one of two groups in Tonga using the TBBF name), Tofavaha Tuifua, today acknowledged the excellent performance of the TBBF Athletes, the assistance of the Tonga Government through the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), and Tonga Amateur Sports Association National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) for their support of TBBF representing Tonga at the 25th South Pacific Body Building Championships.
He said that a TBBF Committee would be set up in early 2020 to oversee preparations for the South Pacific Body Building Championships to be hosted in Tonga.
“TBBF are proud to host the South Pacific Body Building Championship in Tonga next year, we know it will bring benefit for Tonga and the Body Building Sport in Tonga” stated Sione Fatai.
The President of the South Pacific Body Building Federation, Mr Roland Chodey, acknowledged Tonga’s performance, stating “The South Pacific Body Building Federation is pleased to see Tonga return to the regional championships after a long absence, they have returned with a vengeance to regain their position as a strong contender in the South Pacific Body Building Championships. We look forward with interest to see what they do in the future”.
