Catholic Church marks 175th Anniversary [1]

The 175th Anniversary of the Catholic Church in Tonga on Sunday, July 2 was celebrated with a mass led by HE Cardinal Mafi at Pangaimotu Island, the site of a white cross that marks the first mass held on July 2, 1842.
The morning mass was attended by more than a thousand of the church's congregation from throughout Tongatapu and ‘Eua who travelled by boat to the small island.
A spokesperson from the Catholic Church Diocesan Centre, Toutaimana said that plaque was unveiled by Cardinal Mafi to mark the anniversary of the Catholic Church in Tonga.
