Tupou College tops unofficial gold medal tally [1]

Tupou College was in first place with more than 50 gold medals in the unofficial results for Tonga’s 92nd Annual Inter-Collegiate Athletics Competition yesterday.
The four-day competition at Teufaiva Outdoor Stadium ended on Friday, 29 April with competitive finals and a colourful march by schools teams.
A crowd favourite, Tupou College, the all boys boarding school of the Free Wesleyan Church, dominated the relay finals. Their 4x400m relay teams in open and senior grade all won gold medals on Friday. Star athlete Steven Sulunga won 7 Gold Medals in the competition.
The official result is expected to be released by the Sports Committee next week.
During the closing ceremony, athletes marched in their school colours for the presentation of medals attracting hundreds of spectators to the stadium.
Around 19 secondary and middle schools from Tongatapu, Ha’apai and Vava’u competed in this year’s annual competition.
